Technical Project Engineer
About Spoor
Spoor is an ambitious, venture capital-backed scale-up on a mission to make wind power nature-friendly. We build cutting-edge AI technology - combining computer vision and advanced data analytics - to help energy operators reduce project risk, protect biodiversity by reducing collisions, and scale renewable energy with confidence.
We're growing fast, and our team of 12 nationalities is proof that diverse perspectives drive innovation. If you're excited about working at the intersection of AI, hardware, and clean energy, we want to hear from you!
About the Role
As Technical Project Engineer, you'll be the engine behind how our solutions get deployed and adopted in the field. You'll own the full technical lifecycle of customer projects - from pre-sales scoping and site design through to commissioning and operational handover - working closely with our commercial and product teams to deliver real-world impact.
This is a high-visibility, cross-functional role with direct influence on how Spoor scales. You'll be reporting to the CCO and will be a key voice bridging the gap between what customers need and what our product delivers.
Target start date: 1 May 2026 | Location: In-office in Oslo
What You'll Do
Pre-Sales Technical Support
Partner with the sales team to scope technical solutions for prospective customers, including camera placement, hardware specifications, and site requirements for onshore and offshore wind projects.
Conduct technical site assessments and feasibility evaluations.
Prepare technical content for proposals, tenders, and customer presentations.
Participate in customer-facing discussions to address technical questions and build confidence in Spoor's solution.
Identify new use cases for Spoor's AI platform based on customer needs, market trends, and emerging regulatory requirements — working closely with commercial and product teams to shape new value propositions.
Leverage AI tools and workflows in the pre-sales process to improve solution design, site analysis, and proposal quality.
Post-Sales Project Delivery
Own the end-to-end technical delivery of customer projects from contract signature through to handover and operational acceptance.
Develop and manage project plans, timelines, budgets, and risk registers for each deployment in collaboration with Customer Director
Coordinate the calibration, configuration, and deployment of camera hardware and associated infrastructure.
Manage relationships with third-party hardware suppliers and on-site installation partners, ensuring quality, safety, and timely execution.
Oversee camera commissioning and validate that systems are capturing and processing data as expected.
Serve as the primary technical point of contact for the customer during project delivery.
Cross-Functional Collaboration & AI Adoption
Act as the bridge between our commercial team and product/engineering - translating field realities into product feedback and roadmap input
Contribute to building scalable processes and documentation as Spoor expands its customer base and geographic footprint
Champion an AI-first mindset across the commercial organisation, proactively integrating AI tools into project planning, reporting and customer communication
What We're Looking For
You'll thrive in this role if you bring:
3–10 years of professional experience with meaningful exposure to the energy industry
A track record in technical project management - managing timelines, vendors and on-site deployments
Familiarity with camera systems, sensors or monitoring hardware in outdoor or industrial environments
The ability to read and interpret technical specifications, site plans and system architecture documentation
Strong communication skills - equally comfortable with technical engineers and non-technical executives
Comfort working in a fast-paced, scale-up environment where you help build the processes, not just follow them
Willingness to travel to customer sites (onshore and offshore wind farms)
Bonus points if you have:
Experience with environmental monitoring, wildlife surveys or biodiversity compliance in wind energy
Knowledge of relevant regulatory frameworks for bird and bat monitoring (e.g., Shutdown on Demand, EIA requirements)
Experience managing hardware supply chains and third-party installation contractors
A background in solutions engineering, technical sales support or customer success in a technology or SaaS company
A project management certification or equivalent structured methodology experience
What Success Looks Like in Year One
Projects delivered on time and within budget
Measurable improvement in technical win rates in supported deals
Strong customer satisfaction scores across your project portfolio
Scalable AI-enabled workflows implemented to improve deployment efficiency and quality
